Remaining confident and genuine helped Tanmay Vashist Sharma to take hold of Rank 10 in Civil Services Examination 2018

Tanmay Vashist Sharma from IIT Bombay (Electrical Engineering) has moved enthusiastically towards his desire of making career in ‘Civil Services’ and worked really hard to convert these into realities.

With Civil services Examination 2018, he secured 10th rank and achieved this success in his second attempt.

He has picked Mathematics as optional subject.

IIT गुवाहाटी से डिजाइन में स्नातक करने के बाद अक्षत जैन ने सिविल सेवा परीक्षा में भाग लेने का फैसला किया और अपने दूसरे प्रयास में उन्होंने CSE 2018 में द्वितीय रैंक प्राप्त कर उल्लेखनीय परिणाम दर्ज किया है.

उन्होंने वैकल्पिक विषय के रूप में मानव विज्ञान को चुना.

26 years old, G Surya Sai Praveenchand from Amalapuram, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh has reached a big milestone in life by putting up a luminous attainment; 64th rank in Civil Services Examination 2018 that ensures post of ‘IAS’.

Though he cleared CSE 2017 and got rank 512; still, this success left his mission unfinished and efforts continued to accomplish it. By bringing structure to his activities, he achieved this success in third attempt.

He opted for Mathematics as Optional Subject that helped him secure higher rank.

Hailing from Sanwar Village, Udaipur, Rajasthan, Atirag Chaplot did his schooling at Fatehnagar and Udaipur and graduated from Mumbai University.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Atirag got fascinated towards Civil Services at an early age and believed he can do it. He took three attempts to accomplish the goal

He showed strength to push through the pain due to successive failure and learned from the mistakes, he committed in earlier attempts.

Being from CA Background, Atirag opted for Commerce and Accountancy as optional subject.

A Medico Mayank Gupta from Alwar, Rajasthan has been rewarded for his hard work and patience as he achieved an impressive success in Civil Services Examination and secured 177th Rank.

He had to wait a little longer as this success came to him in his fifth attempt.

He had chosen his own subject Medical Sciences as Optional Subject.

A Jammu (J&K) girl, Dr. Rehana Bashir, MBBS from SKIMS, Srinagar, J&K has achieved brilliant success in Civil Services Examination 2018 and got 187th Rank.

It was her second attempt. In first attempt (CSE 2017) she couldn't clear Preliminary Examination.

She had kept her own subject - Medical Science as optional subject.

When it came to choosing career for Gunjan Dwivedi (AIR 9; CSE 2018), the inspiration came from her father who is a retired IPS officer. He has been her childhood role model.

This success came in her third attempt as she couldn’t find the right strategy in her first two attempts. This time valuable advice came from one of her friends who helped her with planning for Preliminary Examination and after that she didn’t look back. This helped her accomplish the task as she secured 9th rank in Civil Services Examination 2018.

Her optional Subject was Political science and international relations.

Civil Services Examination is tough and while preparing, it poses many hurdles and challenges. If you constantly challenge yourself, the growth is there for taking.

After graduating from IIT Guwahati in Design Akshat Jain decided to take a plunge into Civil Services Examination and in his second attempt he produced remarkable result by securing second rank in CSE 2018.

He has picked up Anthropology as optional subject.

While momentum is gathering pace to opt one of the subject studied earlier as optional subject; still, majority of candidates put up a strategic move and pick a popular subject by making cross-domain shift.

As the trend suggest, among the most popular optional subjects available for Civil Services (Main) Examination, Public Administration is once again showing signs of revival of interest among candidates and if thing turn in favour, Public Administration is all set to regain the lost glory.

A glance at the data emerging from recently released 67th Annual Report of UPSC clearly indicates the top 10 optional subjects that helped candidates to crack Civil Services Examination 2015.

The list has all popular names of optional subjects that occupied the top 10 list; it displays similar name as figured in CSE 2014; but, fortunes of many candidates appeared with these optional subjects have changed dramatically.
