For Karnati Varunreddy (AIR 7; CSE 2018), it has been a gradual move toward dream career that took 5 attempts to reach destination - Indian Administrative Service.

After choosing Geography as optional subject for initial two attempts and failing; in third attempt as needed Varun’s plans took a detour as he finally showed faith in his own subject Mathematics that helped him succeed (AIR 166; CSE 2016) that got him IRS (IT).

Though he succeeded in fourth attempt also (AIR 225; CSE 2017); but, this 5th attempt finally got him 7th rank in CSE 2018.

Civil Services (Main) Examination 2018 begins on 28th September and you have only a few weeks in hand to prepare for it.

It is difficult call if you have to choose which among General Studies, Optional Subject or Essay Paper tends to become decider in Main Examination.

So, it’s time to have a strategy in place and prioritize the areas that need immediate attention. Utilize the remaining time in hand to work on areas that are strong and try to devote some time to cover the weaknesses (if you are able to spot) as far as possible.

Suraj Patel , B.Tech. (Mechanical Engineering) from Moti Lal Nehru National institute of Technology, Allahabad, joined Pepsico India after completing graduation in 2013. After almost two years of service, he left job to seriously prepare for Civil Services Examination.

In all the three encounters, Suraj cracked Civil Services Examination and gradually improved ranking as well as post from IRS to IPs and now, with Civil Services Examination 2017 he is getting IAS.

He has chosen Anthropology as Optional Subject.

Experiment, make Mistakes, Analyse and make Improvements; says Sanjeev Kumar Maurya (AIR 89; CSE 2017)

Sanjeev Kumar Maurya, a consistent campaigner took four attempts to reach his destination and secured 89th rank in Civil Services Examination 2017.

He has chosen Public Administration as optional subject.

It was his fourth attempt; all the fourth times he wrote Mains and even reached interview stage thrice.

Pranav Anant Kanitkar, Masters in Economics had taken major decision by switching his job to create new value in life by pursuing Civil services Examination preparation. As has been destined, he had to work really hard and wait a little longer to make his dream come true.

What change made the biggest difference in his success- a word of advice from earlier selected candidates and he tasted the sweetness of success in his fifth attempt.

He got 166th rank in CSE 2017 and has placed his trust in Literature of Hindi Language choosing it as optional subject.
