26 years old, G Surya Sai Praveenchand from Amalapuram, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh has reached a big milestone in life by putting up a luminous attainment; 64th rank in Civil Services Examination 2018 that ensures post of ‘IAS’.
Though he cleared CSE 2017 and got rank 512; still, this success left his mission unfinished and efforts continued to accomplish it. By bringing structure to his activities, he achieved this success in third attempt.
He opted for Mathematics as Optional Subject that helped him secure higher rank.
With better perspective and profound knowledge G Surya Sai Praveenchand (AIR 64; CSE 2018) was able to get good understanding of the circumstances and ability to overcome the challenges faced at some stages in his calling for career progression.
B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna, Surya commenced his career as Software Engineer. The spirited Surya left behind a promising and rewarding career in IT industry as he was raring to go for his passion – career in ‘Civil Services’.
Surya gave the impression of being enthusiastic towards ‘Civil Service’ as career goal and got serious when being a part of Student Council at IIT, Patna he developed natural inclination towards Public Services.
Elaborating his stance on this Surya said, “I realized my passion for it; moreover, a bigger factor was - it was my mother’s aspiration which had reinforced my excitement towards civil services. Therefore, I oriented myself towards Civil Services.”
It had become my obsession to enter into ‘Civil Services’ so, I have put my best efforts in my all attempts.
Among many, as I have started looking for solutions to the problem that I used to read in newspapers or observe from surroundings. This helped me develop better opinions and made me solution oriented.
Disclosing his initial steps he took while commencing preparation for Civil Services Examination Surya said, “For right advice on preparation plan largely I was dependent on online sources for taking the suggestion and guidance.”
“When you know yourself and your goals; it will set the tone for your preparation. I created a strategy after lot of deliberation so that I can face the realities and create some regulations for myself. I organized my activities in such a way that I could observe my steps forward and I remained inspired all the times that backed my preparation and ultimately contributed in my success.”
Recounting fall of events Surya said, “After disappointing first attempt, I accepted my failure and being able to identify the shortcomings, I was able to plug the loopholes in subsequent attempt. With positive mindset, I approached my second attempt with CSE 2017 and cleared it with AIR 512.
Previous two attempts has shaped me much better and contributed in making me what I am today. After this success I was in rectification mode and I was clear that I have to tweak my preparation a little bit.
In this third attempt with CSE 2018, I think, my optional subject Mathematics has done wonders for me. It has played very big role in securing a good ranking as Mathematics marks contribution in the aggregate ensured 64th rank.
Recognizing the family’s support and their contribution Surya said, “My success is solely because of my father (Venkateswara Rao) and mother (Padmavathi), they have played instrumental role in keeping me motivated during childhood and also to develop social consciousness. They are no more; I dedicate my success to them.
I am also grateful to my sister (Mounica), uncle (Babji) and friends (BharadwajPatrudu and Ekant Sharma) for being my backbone throughout my Civils journey.”
