Prem Prakash Meena has attained a brilliant success in Civil Services Examination 2017 and has secured 102nd rank that ensures post of ‘IAS’.
His journey from corporate world to making career in coveted Indian Administrative Services is inspiring for many professionally qualified youngsters who have dream to be a part of bureaucracy.
This was his second Attempts. In his first attempt also in CSE 2016, he cracked it with 969th rank and got IRS (Income Tax).
The Optional Subject he picked up was Anthropology that marked its contribution to finish it in style.

Frankly expressing his viewpoints on contrasting decision about swapping career destination, he said, “After working in corporate sector for more than 9 years, and having travelled around the world, working with some of the biggest corporate names (Schlumberger, Shell and British Petroleum) in the world, there was this realisation that why not utilise the skills and experienced gained so far towards the much greater cause of nation building; use the tools, techniques, and leadership towards influencing the lives of millions of my own countrymen in a more positive, more effective way, and thus the decision to leave the corporate sector and attempt for Civil Services.”
Anything special that contributed in this splendid success
“Years of experience gained while working with the corporate sector, support from parents and family, and the will & determination to be a part of the system to be able to positively contribute towards betterment of my nation and my fellow countrymen”, he said.
Is this just a matter of innate talent?
Civil Services Examination is less a matter of innate talent and more the product of focus and perseverance. It is a big examination and unpredictable too. To prepare oneself, best would be to widen ones horizon of preparations.
He got the right advice on preparation plan from videos of toppers, various blogs and self-made strategy played a key role in devising his own strategy towards Civil Services Examination preparation.
Revealing the secret of his success he said, “Hard work, dedication, and not limiting myself to the pre-set moulds of preparation-plans and support from my family and friends contributed the most in getting top ranks.”
“Among many other factors, selection of Optional subject (Anthropology) proved to be strategic that tremendously helped me to prepare myself within a short time period”, he added.
A bit of Advice to future aspirants
With such an endeavour like Civil Services Examination in hand, you must challenge yourself to take effective action at appropriate time and should consider it within your reach.
To motivate future aspirants, Prem Prakash said, “A lot of people might be of the view that it takes multiple attempts to crack the Civil Services exam, “well, that may be true to some extent, but if you are determined, got the right strategy and follow it through, one can (and do) get there in the initial attempts as well."
