While making final choice for optional subjects, your own interest is important, availability of material also matters.

    Optional Subject 1: AGRICULTURE
    Optional Subject 2: BOTANY

Interest and interlinking its usefulness in life was the basis of selecting these optional subjects.

As I am a science student throughout so, natural interest drove me to pick them. Though Agriculture was not my graduation subject but, its relevance to our nation motivated me to pick it.

In my all attempts, I kept same set of optional subjects.

    Success Plan

Career in Civil Services was my ultimate goal.

When you commence your preparation, listen yourself first. With self-assessment, understand your capabilities. Once you identify needs clearly, then only you can perform.

Every success story is an inspiration and I got motivation from each topper about whom I read.

    Number of attempts
Three (3). It feels great to overcome the hard time.
Until you succeed, there is a reason for the failure; I polished my answer-writing style and added new updates to face the examination effectively.

    Time Management
It is a key factor while making preparations as well as in writing examination papers. So, I gave equal time to all subjects. The tough portion of the syllabus should be covered first so that you don’t feel time-crunch. I emphasized on revision.

    Prelims

    Change in Prelims pattern
I was focussed right from the childhood; the new pattern for Preliminary Examination did not deter me at all.

General Knowledge is an extensive sea of knowledge. To enrich my knowledge I read books, surfed internet and used various sources to update it.

Approach towards Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (Aptitude Test)
For Preliminary Examination, it is important to devote equal time to both Paper I &II. To tackle Prelims in new format, staying cool is prerequisite.
Read as much as you can; comprehension is an important area to look at in Paper II.

    Negative Marking
I did not attempt all questions. If you have 90% surety, then only one should take risk, but not too much. Do not go for wild guess. Try to link the word to work out answers.

    Mains

In this attempt, I tried to change answer-writing style, tried to be precise and clear.

I gathered new updates with extensive use of internet.

    Essay

My updates knowledge for General Studies preparation helped me a lot. I just wrote with contemporary inference using updated facts. While writing essay, relevance of topic is essential.

I attempted to inculcate analytical approach.  I picked up ‘Managing work and home – is the Indian working women getting a fair deal?‘ this time and I choose this particular topic as I had ample stuff to express myself and to prove that working women is equally contributing at home too; she has not forgotten her other roles.

    Interview

As I could not get time for attending mock interviews, I prepared for Personality Test with self-help.

I faced Dr. Venkatarami Reddy Y board. It was cordial and nice experience. It on smooth; however, some of the questions were intricate. Where I got stuck, I politely said sorry.

    Interview Questions

Most of the questions asked were on state development, infrastructure, Sati, Gwar Gum and some international issues like Chine, Pakistan, Arab spring etc.
