Civil Services Examination 2015: Cut-Off marks Analysis

Before aspirants commence preparation for Civil Service Examination, most of the candidates look at Cut-off figures for current as well as previous years closely to get a rough idea about the current trends at various stages of examination that helps them in formulating their own preparation-strategies.

Union Public Service Commission has released Cut-off marks for Civil Services Examination 2015. The Cut-off for all stages of the examination i.e. Preliminary Examination, Main Examination (Written) and Final cut-off marks is given.

It clearly gives an idea about the minimum qualifying standards (marks)/ marks secured by the candidate in various categories at various stages of examination.

While preparing for Civil Service Examination, most of the candidates look at these figures closely as these gives a rough idea about the current trends at various stages of examination that helps them in formulating their own preparation-strategies.

The Cut-off for final selection in Civil Services Examination 2015 is 877 marks for General category of candidates.

The following table gives the complete picture where stage-wise and category-wise cut-off is also given.

# Subject to 10% marks in each of the seven competitive papers i.e. Essay, GS 1, GS 2, GS 3, GS 4, Optional‐I and Optional‐II.

Cut-off Preliminary Examination 2015

As the Prelims General Studies Paper II was made qualifying, the performance in General Studies Paper I become the basis on which cut-off depended.

For General Category candidates, the cut-off remained 107.34 out of total 200 marks.

This data is not comparable with previous years’ figures as cut-off was worked out on the basis on candidate’s performance in General Studies Paper I and II.

Cut-off Main Examination (Written) 2015

For General category, the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2015 written part cut-off is 676 marks out of 1750 total marks that come out to be about 38.6 per cent.

The cut-off for Main Examination 2014 was 678 almost similar as we have this time.

In CSE 2013, the cut-off was 564 marks out of 1750 total marks i.e. 32.2 per cent.

Final cut-off Civil Services Examination 2015

Final cut-off for CSE 2015 has come at 43.3 per cent as General category candidates with 877 marks and above out of 2025 total marks have found place in merit-list.

In CSE 2014, the final cut-off was shade higher 889 i.e. 43.9 per cent

It stood at 775 marks out of total 2025 marks in Civil Services Examination 2013 that make it 38.3 per cent.
