When I met Munish Sharma (28 years) on 12th June, the evening the CSE 2013 was announced, he was humble, composed and took this brilliant success in stride.
For a youngster, hailing from a middle-class family securing 2nd rank in Civil Services Examination has been a well-deserved accomplishment of the goal which he had set during his school days.
Munish has graduated from Sri Venkateshwara College, New Delhi in Biochemistry and pursued MBA from Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management.
He started preparing for Civil Services examination after a lucrative job with KPMG in 2012. The reason for choosing career in Civil Services was as his school teachers used to motivate me for making careering in Civil Services.
It had been a wonderful journey that I really enjoyed, said Munish who did not forget to give credit for his success to his mother and the mentor, Karamjeet Sir (Nirvana IAS Academy).
My mother has been the epitome of struggle for existence, he added. Even, the support extended by close family friends and my cousins has been an able contributor to my success.
When I asked him about this result he said that someone may have a sixth sense when it comes to predicting success in Civil Services Examination but, I don’t have such powers.
In my last attempt CSE 2012, I was expecting good rank and scanned list of top 10 candidates in the merit-list. Then searched 20, 30 and tried control F to find my name in list. Rectified my search with all caps if something I was missing but, couldn’t find it.
This time, when I was relaxed after almost equally good attempt, I am pleasantly surprised to find my name at 2nd spot. It is quite surreal but, I have started getting the feel as my close ones are celebrating and they have reasons to do so.
