Only one Optional Subject now!

In new format for Civil Services (Main) Examination 2013, candidate needs to pick one optional subject for which there will be two papers for 250 marks each.

In past few months, there was a serious debate about existence of optional subject in Main Examination and till end, majority of people were of the opinion that UPSC is going to remove both the optional subjects.

However, UPSC has continued to have faith in optional subject; although, its weightage has gone down. This step would have calmed the nerves of lot many candidates who had been pointlessly worried about the incoming changes.

In new format for Civil Services (Main) Examination 2013, candidate needs to pick one optional subject for which there will be two papers for 250 marks each.

List of optional subjects available

Among optional subjects, Literature of Languages is under cloud and new pattern spells a bit of setback as candidates with Literature background only would be able to pick these.

In new environment, the basis of optional subject selection would change and now, candidate would require to make a balanced decision about optional subject that helps him/her make the endeavour meaningful.
