Civil Services Examination beacons talented and brilliant candidates and many of them achieve the summit called UPSC-CSE with sheer hard-work and dedication. The same stands true for 29 year old Neha Prakash who secured 22nd rank in Civil Services Examination 2011 in her very first attempt.
With Sociology and Management as her optional subjects, she achieved this success without any support and coaching. An alumnus of IIM, Lucknow, she works with a multi-national consultancy company in National Capital Region.
She had been a brilliant student all throughout and earlier, she had secured 99.7 %tile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission to IIM Lucknow.
Fascination for IAS and a solid foundation for success reflects in her talks as she says, “I was inclined towards Civil Services. But I also believed that I had to expand my knowledge horizon before joining the Civil Services.”
Commenting on the new pattern of Preliminary Examination introduced for the first time she says that although the pattern was new and the candidate’s could not rely on previous preparation fully, still the broad framework announced by UPSC was enough to guide.
She gives more importance to the awareness about current developments as it is crucial for handling General Studies paper as well as renders a great help in optional subjects also.
Neha is a big source of inspiration for many capable working candidates who shy away from this examination thinking that it is not possible to achieve success while continuing in service. She made it possible and accomplished her dream despite of her busy work schedule where she could scarcely get time for preparation.
Neha gives major credit for her success to her family for the support and inspired by her father, whom she treats as a friend, philosopher and guide.
