Anthropology as a Popular Optional Subject

Anthropology is one among popular optional subjects in Civil Services Examination and is making a comeback.

Anthropology used to be a very popular subject in late 80’s and early 90’s and was considered to be a very high scoring subject with short syllabus which could be prepared within short span.

After a long gap, Anthropology is again showing good results and has shown great potential as an optional subject.

Among the popular optional subjects for Civil Services (Main) Examination (with which 100-1000 candidates appeared in Mains Examination), the candidates appearing with Anthropology are able to produce regular results.

In Civil Services (Main) Examination 2008, 345 candidates appeared in Main Examination with Anthropology as one optional subject.

Number of Candidates selected:
With Anthropology as an Optional Subject, 37 candidates were recommended for selection in CSE 2008.

Success-rate:
In CSE 2008, the success-rate of Anthropology stood at 10.7%.

The result of Anthropology was good in Civil Services Examination 2008 and has a very good success-rate. The success-rate of Anthropology had been much above the success-rate of the most popular optional subjects.
