Success-Rate of Optional Subjects opted by 100-500 candidates

To help you plan better, we bring the latest facts relating to Civil Services Examination from the 60th Annual Report of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) which relates to the Civil Services examination details held during year 2009-10.

When it comes to subjects opted by 100-500 candidates in the Mains Examination, Agriculture as an optional subject has stolen the show. With 41 successes it has a success-rate of 18.6 percent.

It is followed by Economics and Anthropology.

CSE 2007 top success-rate achiever, Commerce and Accountancy, has fared pretty badly and has gone down to 6th place. It delivered highest success rate of 12.1 percent last year which nosedived to mare 5.6 per cent.

The pure science subjects continue to show dismal performance in CSE 2008. Physics and Chemistry are able to have average success-rate but subjects like Mathematics has fared badly.

Even, the performance of Botany and Zoology are not worth mentioning.
