‘Revolving fund' for DMIC project

India on February 15, 2011 proposed a $9 billion ‘revolving fund' jointly with Japan to finance and start implementation of the crucial Delhi Mumbai Industrial corridor (DMIC) link to address the infrastructure concerns.

The proposal was made by the visiting Commerce and Industry Minister, Anand Sharma, in Tokyo during his meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Naoto Kan.

Mr. Sharma apprised the Japanese Prime Minister and updated him of the current status of the industrial and transport link between Delhi and Mumbai. The DMIC corridor project was started in 2007 and is financed by the Japanese Government, yen loans from Japan and investment from Japanese companies.
