Hindi & Vernacular Languages Candidates

Although, a large number of candidates appear in English Medium; still, lots of Hindi and Vernacular languages candidates appear in Civil Services Examination.

Their needs are little different from English medium counterparts as awareness relating to examination, availability of relevant study-material and their education background gives English medium candidates an edge.

However, with consistent efforts and focus, every year many Hindi and vernacular languages candidates make their presence felt.

Some attempts have been made to create some confusion among Hindi medium candidates that UPSC doesn’t award Hindi medium candidates good marks and there is some bias UPSC show towards Hindi medium candidates.

Fact is evident from comparison of marks between Tina Dabi (AIR 1; CSE 2015) and Anuradha Pal (AIR 62; CSE 2015) top ranker with Hindi medium that Hindi medium candidates also put up decent show and are suitably rewarded for their efforts.

Sluggish show by Hindi medium candidates continues even in Civil Services Examination 2015

The trend that gathered pace with Civil Services Examination 2011 after new-look Preliminary Examination came into force where saga of Hindi medium candidates receded dramatically in Preliminary Examination.

Now, five years have passed and with a glance at final results of CSE 2015, there is nothing constructive and the awful performance by Hindi Medium Candidates continues.

It is manifested in the figures extracted from latest UPSC Annual Reports that inadequate representation of Candidates with Hindi Medium continues even in Civil Services (Main) Examination 2014.

Highest Rank in Civil Services Examination 2015 with Hindi medium

A large number of candidates prepare for Civil Services Examination with vernacular languages and among these, Hindi medium is next to English only that candidates keep as medium of writing examination. But, in recent years, the Hindi medium result has not been great and even this year CSE 2015, there are only two Candidates among top 100 ranks (62nd Anuradha Pal and 99th Rank Gaurav Singh Sogarwal).
